This compact, high-performance lens features the same feathered bokeh as the M.Zuiko Digital F1.2 series and the excellent image quality of a PRO lens.

To provide superb depictive performance, this lens utilizes one Super ED lens, three ED lenses, two Super HR lenses, and two aspherical lenses in a configuration of 11 elements in 10 groups to provide clear, sharp images right to the periphery of the image despite being a bright F1.4 lens.
ZERO coating is used effectively together with optimal suppression of internal reflections within the lens barrel to reduce ghosting and flaring.

Beautiful feathered bokeh was achieved thanks to an ultra-high precision aberration measurement instrument incorporating high-precision measurement technologies used in advanced microscope design.
This measurement instrument was used in research stages to measure the characteristics of historically acclaimed lenses, which would become the base for newly developed ones.
In development stages, the instrument was used to create a lens design that optimizes the level of aberrations, while virtually eliminating all unwanted aberrations.

With splashproof performance equivalent to protection class 1 (IPX1) and freezeproof performance to -10°C, you can enjoy shooting with peace of mind in even the most punishing environments.

Sealed throughout, this product has excellent splashproof properties, offering IPX1-class protection. It is splashproof, as well as being freezeproof to -10°C. Pairing this lens with a dustproof, splashproof, and freezeproof camera body makes it possible to continue shooting in punishing environments such as rain and snow—and even dusty environments—with peace of mind.

This focal length offers a unique angle of view a little wider than a classic standard lens but less than a traditional wide angle, balancing a natural, unexaggerated perspective with bokeh expression at a maximum aperture. This is the perfect lens using with the feathered bokeh to blur the background at a maximum aperture of f1.4 to take portraits at a comfortable distance from the subject, for landscape photography with a natural viewing angle, or for snapshots where you can get close to the subject and then pull back to capture the shot.
