The new 5-axis IS unit optimised for a compact, lightweight body delivers compensation effects beyond that of the E-M5 Mark II. Combined with in-lens IS, this feature supports 5-axis sync IS for powerful image stabilisation.
Based on information from the high-sensitivity gyro sensor, the TruePic VIII image processor has precise control over the new 5-axis IS unit for up to approximately 5.5 shutter speed steps[1] of compensation, which goes beyond that of the E-M5 Mark II. In-body image stabilisation ensures image stabilisation with every single lens attached.
Because the cameras supports 5-axis stabilisation, in addition to angular blur and translational blur, the camera can correct roll blur, something not possible for in-lens image stabilisation. This provides powerful suppression of camera shake that occurs in telephoto photography, macro shooting, and handheld shooting at night.
Controlling the camera while synchronising the image stabilisation of the supported lens and in-body 5-axis image stabilisation delivers up to approximately 6.5 shutter speed steps[1] of compensation.
