The TG-870 is waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, and crushproof letting you take photos anywhere, whether you are on skiing on the slopes, on a severe trek, or snorkeling off of a reef. It also features an ultra-wide 21mm[1] lens that can be used to accurately capture majestic landscapes.
Olympus-original technology makes the TG-870 waterproof up to depths of 15m, shockproof up to 2.1m, crushproof up to 100kgf, freezeproof up to -10℃, and also dustproof.
Olympus-original movement-resistant hydrostatic testing verification and the double-lock mechanism enable waterproof performance up to depths of 15m[2]. With reliable sealing technology, this camera lets you shoot in the heavy rain or near waterfalls, as well as while you are snorkeling or scuba diving.
The TG-870 Tough uses a unique double-layered shockproof and crushproof construction that clears drop tests from a height of 2.1m[2] and crush tests with a weight of 100kg[2]. This drastically reduces damage from dropping the camera or sitting on the camera by accident.
All electrical and mechanical components are designed so that the camera can function even in a freezing environment of -10℃[2]. This lets you take photos up in the mountains even in the cold winter months.
Dustproof sealing prevents sand or dust from getting into the camera.
The TG-870 features a combination of waterproof sealing and a shockproof construction, for the best in Olympus-original technology.
With an optical 5x zoom lens starting from an ultra-wide 21mm[1], the TG-870 boasts one of the widest zoom lenses in compact cameras and provides outstanding performance.
Employing Olympus-original folded optics technology, the TG-870 Tough achieves shockproof construction, an ultra-compact size, and an ultra-wide angle zoom. All lens movement remains inside of the camera body, protecting the lens unit from any possible damage. Moreover, you can get as close as 1cm to the subject in Super Macro mode, and it also features lens-shift type image stabilisation that compensates for camera shake by precisely moving the lens while ensuring high shockproof performance.
The TG-870 compensates for distortion that tends to occur toward the edges of an image shot at an ultra-wide angle. This is useful whenever you have human subjects toward the edges of an image.
The Sportcam mode makes it possible to shoot movies with a ultra-wide angle of view of approximately 90° to accurately capture majestic landscapes.
